Well, my personal view is that the bite of an unrezzed zombie isn't fatal. Put it this way, I'm still alive and there are no bits falling off.

See also this comment about the weaponry I employed on the show.

  • Spooky stories ... and Elrik fights zombies on Designing Worlds!   2 years 30 weeks ago

Concerned about potential Zombie attack? Fear not!Concerned about potential Zombie attack? Fear not!

As we approach that difficult time of year when the risk of Zombie attack reaches its zenith, you may well turn your attention to how you might defend yourself, and the members of the Fair Sex in your life, from the ravages of the Undead.

In my personal view, any Steampunk gentleman worth his salt could do no better than to arm himself with the D-Z Tesla Ray Rifle shown here and available from the SL Marketplace, as employed by me recently to defend my delectable interviewee, Miss Anara Serevi, and myself from an unexpected Zombie attack during the course of Designing Worlds' recent excursion to the Village of Nyght. I heartily recommend this device and emphasise that I have no association whatsoever with the purveyor of said apparatus and speak only from personal experience.

This exceptionally well-detailed weapon has a vast array of resources that may be deployed against all manner of assailants, and conforms to many of the commonly available combat systems found in-world.

In my personal opinion, the most effective mode for despatching the Undead is the Plasma Ball facility. This unleashes an exceptionally powerful ball of compact electrical energy against one's assailants, driving them a considerable distance across the region in a manner reminiscent of the game of Ninepins. I find this approach preferable to the use of projectiles (though this weapon also provides such facilities) in that it avoids exposing the Ladies' sensibilities to the sight, and potential spattering, of the blood of the aforementioned assailants. The Plasma effect also serves to sterilise the area, which may be found to be a most efficacious approach.

However I would warn the operator not to attempt to employ the Plasma Ball in a confined space as this may result in the Ball being unable to escape in the direction fired: this may have, shall we say, undesirable consequences. Instead, attempt to attain a high location, such as a flight of Steps, adjacent to an open area, where one has a suitable view of the disposition of potential assailants and can despatch them swiftly and effectively.

In addition to its effective operation, you will find the Tesla Ray Rifle to be finely crafted and constructed of hard-wearing and elegant materials, and also that when recharging, the weapon produces a fearsome Sound as the bolt of electrical energy is being prepared such that in and of itself it may be found to have effective deterrent capabilities.

    Highly Recommended. * * * * *

The Simmons are coming, the Simmons are coming!

The theme this week at the Giant Snail Races is the Simmons, the silly and spooky side of Halloween.

My snail this week is a bit of departure from the norm, new things tried and built for this one. It's definitely silly and a bit spooky.

Silly Spooky Snail 1: Two snails are better then one. Both are in a harness attached to a pumpkin carriage. Pumpkin headed carriage driver at the reigns. Well done Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo(INTEC) for being such an important part of this virtual encounter and also announce, in the Dominican Republic, the presentation of this interesting Second Life meeting with Noam Chomsky, professor of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Furthermore, I would like to congratulate Robert Bloomfield too, for being such an excellent host and also, last but not least, my congratulations for everybody who made this possible. In my opinion, I think this is what the future of the earth needs; clever toughts exposed wisely in order to get intelligent and practical solutions for a more peacefull, sustainable and green future.

    Best regards.

  • Jack Linden and Dusan Writer discuss Mesh on Designing Worlds   2 years 32 weeks ago

We the game industry ranging from Lucasarts to Valve, will be watching all mesh imports within the game of Second Life and will legally strike hard at anything that is even slightly suspicious. For years content "creators" have been creating work from franchises they do not own, are not part of and selling recreations of them, and literal texture and sound theft, in Second Life, and Linden Labs has never responded to this issue. This definitely will not go unpunished and this mesh import you have planned will be highly monitored by several developers from over 80 game studios. As I said anything that catches our eye, any Star Wars, Avatar, Left 4 Dead, Medal of Honor or Call of Duty work (for example) ripped from our games and imported as a mesh and sold in Second Life, will be met with a swift legal response. This also goes for textures and sounds and the current menu of items on the Second Life Marketplace currently.

This simply cannot continue. When Mesh import is released people will be ripping assets from our games left and right, just like they have with textures and sounds. It's a shock Linden Lab does not monitor this activity or seem to even care and thinks that this can continue to go unnoticed. It has not! Second Life is a great creation, but a monitoring system needs to be put in place and the people at Linden Lab need to open direct communication to game studios, so we can deal with people who outright break the law.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....

I feel a disturbance in the Force...I sense Star Wars is the theme for this weeks giant snail race and it is the start of season 6.
Hop in your X-Wing, Star Destroyer or even your old piece of junk, and head at lightspeed to Hawthorne. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy, you must be cautious.

And may the Force be with you.
