Otway ~

Two weeks are already logged in the DWRL's 2010 Spring Season. At Dirtfield Raceway alone, six very dramatic main events have come down to nearly the last lap in the space of two weeks.

So far this season, the dominant force has been V&B Racing's Ryde Thor in the number 7 machine. In Dirt Modified, Pure Stock, Super Late Model, Sprint Car, and TROO, he has at least led a lap if not outright won the event.

"This is something new for me." the V&B driver said. "It used to be a case of me going 'Can my computer handle this? Is this a good day?' and showing up for three races. Now it's more like 'This is going to be a good day' every day."

Previous champions competing this season have struggled so far however. Subwoofer Fuhr has placed as high as third, but not topped the podium yet this season in the dirt, Zaria Falconer has come close twice, but not come away with one in the "W" column yet (officially!) Caz Freschi also struggling, unable to finish in his first race of the season in the TROO class.

Those who came close last season have equally struggled. Bren Blackheart and Vickster Kuhn both are struggling to stay on the lead lap , let alone finish in the top three. Both drivers have said they're hoping to improve as the season continues. (On a related note, Bren Blackheart says that she's still healing from her heart surgery in December)

One driver who has also shined this season is Roadkill Racing's Gage Pastorelli. Pastorelli has consistantly and smoothly climbed from last to fifth or higher in almost every race he's been in so far this season.

This looks like the recipe for a good season, and we hope you'll join us next week when the Pure Stocks tackle the oval, the Sprint Cars return, and the Dirt Modifieds kick it into overdrive for week #3!
