Is Linden Lab Moving In On Residents?

Hi I have just see the TV program, shown the other evening in world. I have been and had a look at a freinds New Linden Home. But she has no locks on the doors. I'm newish, but it does it means anyone can walk into her home, watch her doing anything, or wreck her home... WHY no door locks ?? Can anyone advise ???

LL Homes

I don't know the full story but does the ownership of the home stay with Linden Labs or can you throw your own locks in. Not to mention... If someone wanted to peek in and mess with stuff in the house, a lock on the door wouldn't change that. If need be, rez out a security system if you don't want the avies themselves in your home. Nothing will keep out cams.

Hi Jesiah, Thanks for comment. The world of "Security is a mystery, I have seen one house with red lines all around it. Now thats what i would suggest to my SL friend... But what and where can she pick up one of these gadgets, Any shopping advise would be appreciated. Before she gets caught in her bathtub.. Bland.

LL Homes Security

Hi Blanford, yes the ban lines are unsightly because the homes are so close together. What you can do is go into your About Land and set your object preferences in there. Set all of the object options to group, even if your land isn't officially set to a group.

1. Right click the land, select "About Land", and then select the "Options Tab".
2. Do NOT place a checkmark in the "Edit Terrain" checkbox.
3. For "Create Objects", do NOT place a checkmark in "All Residents", but DO place a checkmark in "Group".
4. For "Object Entry", do NOT place a checkmark in "All Residents", but DO place a checkmark in "Group".
5. For "Run Scripts", do NOT place a checkmark in "All Residents", but DO place a checkmark in "Group".
6. For "Restrict Pushing", DO place a checkmark in the checkbox

Right click the land, select "About Land", and then select the "Objects Tab". You will see a white text field with the text label: "Autoreturn other residents' objects (minutes, 0 for off):"
Enter a value of "1" in this field.

For extra security here are two options:

Linden Home Security

Hi Angie. Thanks for that. Very helpful.. While I love my new FREE home, i think many new resisdents will not be aware of how to protect their homes. May I just add I have also ticked the Mature Box in the Options Tag. Bland.

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the new website and the new forums! I hope we can see people in here discussing the shows - the issues - and what they'd like to see on forthcoming shows!

wiznord

Saffia!!!! So brave you are, making the first forum post! I hope you like the new setup, and there are still more things coming, but I think we got things to the point where we felt things were "mostly working". Keep an eye out for bugs, and if you find them, our mission will be the squash em!

elrikmer

Our new season starts this week, and we have an exciting selection of topics lined up. We do hope you'll enjoy them. And don't forget, if you know somewhere that will be of interest to us or our listeners, on any grid, do let us know.

lacombe

Saffia! I am so glad to see that you have procured this forum! I watched a couple of the videos of DW here on the TreetTV site, and they work marvelously well. I really enjoyed the Christmas show in Rothesey. My doesn't Elrik have a lovely home there!

Aisling

Hi everyone! What a great new forum for us to gather and talk about the show. Elrik's right, we do have some really interesting places to take viewers this season, and the first one is...well, that would be telling. But I wonder, might giraffes be involved?

Nimh20

My question is if InWorldz is OpenSim than why isn't it on the OpenSim grid list?? http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Grid_List. There are other OpenSim grids that are not on this page besides InWorldz like Openlife.
