A lively discussion about Open Sim content issues and copyright protection in a Hypergrid-enabled world. Saffia and Elrik welcome Maria Korolov, Elenia Llewellyn, Mal Burns, Raven Haalan and Pathfinder Lester to the show.
Saffia!!!! So brave you are, making the first forum post! I hope you like the new setup, and there are still more things coming, but I think we got things to the point where we felt things were "mostly working". Keep an eye out for bugs, and if you find them, our mission will be the squash em!

Our new season starts this week, and we have an exciting selection of topics lined up. We do hope you'll enjoy them. And don't forget, if you know somewhere that will be of interest to us or our listeners, on any grid, do let us know.

Saffia! I am so glad to see that you have procured this forum! I watched a couple of the videos of DW here on the TreetTV site, and they work marvelously well. I really enjoyed the Christmas show in Rothesey. My doesn't Elrik have a lovely home there!

Hi everyone! What a great new forum for us to gather and talk about the show. Elrik's right, we do have some really interesting places to take viewers this season, and the first one is...well, that would be telling. But I wonder, might giraffes be involved?

My question is if InWorldz is OpenSim than why isn't it on the OpenSim grid list?? http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Grid_List. There are other OpenSim grids that are not on this page besides InWorldz like Openlife.

OpenSim and Content
The whole thing comes down to trust, SL content creators, trust that LL will not "take" their creations, even though by the TOS LL owns your content.
Where as on OS grids it is up to you to provide a license for use or not to use your items.
In SL if you quit or go inactive, LL owns your inventory.
While I agree that there needs to be a better security system for OS grids, it is not , the big deal, everyone seems to be making it.
IF you want to spend the money to have a huge commercial grid, they why not pay LL to do it, then you do not have the servers to support and the headaches.
IF you want to run a OS , and the O in OS stands for OPEN , commercial is not in there anywhere, then you have to take the bad with the good, if you take the OPEN out of OpenSim, then you have LL/SL.
Again I want to say I am all for a better security system for content in OS , but not to the point that it turns OS into SL/LL, or that we have money hungry content providers crying they did not make their .02 for a piece of virtual product.
